A STRONG CORPORATE CONNECTION
The Schulich School of Engineering recognizes that industry is seeking superior engineering graduates who are technically competent but who also possess a broad range of personal and interpersonal skills.
The school's partnership with business and industry professionals guides the development of new curriculum and practices, identifies research opportunities, and ensures that Schulich graduates meet and exceed the expectations of the greater engineering community.
This relationship is fostered through the following programs:
Schulich Industry Advisory Council
The Schulich Industry Advisory Council will influence programs designed to educate graduates who can tackle challenges and solve problems that are yet unknown. The responsibilities of the council, drawn from strategic areas of engineering for Alberta and Canada, include providing input and advice on direction and growth opportunities for the Schulich School of Engineering, identifying research opportunities with industry, and expanding the links between the engineering school and the professional engineering community.
Engineering Associates Program
The Engineering Associates Program (EAP) provides a forum for exchange between industry members, the Schulich School of Engineering faculty, and the upcoming generation of engineering leaders, while members learn about the latest breakthroughs and trends in engineering research and education, and how they will impact the greater engineering community.
Research and Education Advisory Councils
The Schulich School of Engineering benefits greatly from the influence of the advisory councils on our direction and activities. These councils have been effective in ensuring that we are fully cognizant of the needs of the engineering community and of the response of the community to our offerings.
Engineering Leadership Awards
Each year the Schulich School of Engineering recognizes industry contributions to the school and the engineering field with the presentation of the Dean’s Award for Corporate Leadership and the Canadian Engineering Leader Award.
Engineering Internship Program
One of the biggest challenges facing businesses today is hiring the right employees. The award-winning Schulich School of Engineering internship program, one of the largest of its kind in Canada, offers employers an effective way to attract new engineering talent, and helps a future engineer explore his/her career options.
